Mufflers

VG Engineering offer custom designed mufflers for a range of applications including compressors, diesel engines, turbo machinery. Fully welded construction and the use of materials that are compliant with the customer application ensure optimum acoustic and aerodynamic performance is maintained throughout the muffler life with minimal pressure drop. For high temperature applications all internal components are designed to account for expansion and resistance to heat degradation. Where required selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems can also be incorporated into the muffler design. All silencers are fully designed to include connection and supporting requirements for easy installation and operation. Three basic options of muffler are offered:

These are acoustically lined cylindrical silencers available with or without a central absorptive bullet baffle. The acoustic media consists of long strand fibers wrapped in suitable cloth to protect against erosion under harsh operating environments. Mufflers are available with end and side inlet and outlets.

These are cylindrical silencers that contain resonator tubes and chambers to reduce sound from a pulsation noise source such as a rotating compressor or internal combustion engine. Based upon the customer application and operational speed variation of the prime mover the configuration design of the chambers and resonator tube are optimized to reduce the flow pulsation and low frequency noise to give the best acoustic and aerodynamic performance. Available with various configurations of end and side inlets and outlets.

This type of silencer is a combination of the previous two. A hybrid muffler can consist of a number of configurations to remove lower and mid-range sound frequencies. For example, the outer cylinder maybe lined internally with an acoustic media to improve sound absorption and transmission through the casing, the resonator tubes maybe lined to aid attenuation or a resonator type muffle could be in series with a reactive silence. The configuration depends upon the customer requirements and the best configuration to meet the acoustic, aerodynamic and physical requirements. Available with various configurations of end and side inlets and outlets.
